Andrew Pereira is a Philadelphia-raised artist and composer currently residing in Brooklyn, NY. He brings his unique voice to life through the saxophone, clarinet, and flute.
Andrew has been actively performing in a wide array of musical settings, defying genre barriers. Through different professional big band settings, Andrew has performed music featuring Peter Erskine, Walt Weiskopf, Ignacio Berroa, among others. In small group settings, he has performed extensively as a sideman with some of the finest up-and-coming and established musicians on the jazz and neo-soul scenes from the Philadelphia and New York areas. Andrew was a monthly performer at Chris’ Jazz Café in Philadelphia. Since moving to New York, he has been featured as a regular Night Artist at Bar Next Door. In addition to extensive sideman work, Andrew leads his own group, showcasing his original compositions and concept as a musical director.
Andrew attended Rutgers University and Temple University, majoring in Jazz Studies. During his time at school, Andrew had the privilege of studying under world class faculty, while steadily immersing himself into the vibrant Philadelphia music scene. Shortly after graduating, Andrew was awarded 2nd place in the 2016 North America Saxophone Alliance Biennial Jazz Competition.
